Beauty Therapy

We all like to look good.  Fact.  We all like to feel great, and be pampered.  Well, how amazing would it feel to know that you were responsible for making people feel good about themselves?  This is exactly what beauty therapists do every day.  Beauty therapy covers a massive range of things, including:

  • Nail Technicians
  • Make up artists
  • Waxing
  • Massage

Whether you want to work in a beauty salon, a leisure centre, a spa or a cruise ship, there are so many types of beauty therapy that there is plenty to choose from!  You might even want to run your own business one day, seeing clients at home to make them feel special for that big occasion!  So, how do you get started?  Well, there are loads of courses out there for you, so let’s have a look!

South Lanarkshire College offers courses in areas such as Nail Extensions and Hand and Foot Therapy.  The Beauty Therapy courses will teach you skills such as:

  • Head Massage
  • Facial Treatments
  • Hair and Make-up

Check out www.south-lanarkshire-college.ac.uk to find out more about the options which will suit your interests.

In 2009, Cardonald College opened a brand new, purpose built hairdressing salon and beauty suite for beauty courses, which include Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ’s) in:

  • Hairdressing
  • Beauty Therapy

Those budding make-up artists destined for the bright lights of Hollywood can also take elective classes in areas such as:

  • Fashion
  • Photographic Make-up

Check out http://www.cardonald.ac.uk/courses/show/543/

There are so many different routes that Beauty Therapy could take you down, so have a good look at what is available to you, and who knows?  My face could one day be in your hands!
