I’m a wee bit biased, YOZILA reader, but I think the media is one of the most fascinating industries in the world to get into! My course is journalism, which is about writing the news, but there are loads of media related courses out there to suit every interest. I’ll tell you more about journalism later, readers, but I know that a lot of people have no interest in writing the news. Some people prefer to interpret the news and the effects the media has on society, and this is fascinating to study. Are you into celebrity culture? Keeping up to date with Peter and Jordan, or the latest political scandal? Are you just (like me) plain nosy? Well, media and communication could well be the course for you!
Glasgow University offers a degree course in Film and Television studies, which I think you’ll agree, Film experts, sounds like an amazing course! You’ll learn about techniques used in these industries, and how they have developed over the years, alongside attending screenings and discussions about film and TV culture. Well, now that you’re biting my hand off to apply, check out http://www.gla.ac.uk/undergraduate/degrees/arts/filmtelevisionstudies/ to find out more! You can even combine Film and TV studies with other subject options such as a modern language (giving you the option to work abroad once you’ve graduated!)
Caledonian University offers a degree in Media and Communication, where you’ll get to study subject areas such as:
Media and Communication courses offer students the chance to study and understand the media, which is never boring as of course new things are happening in the world every day! You’ll learn about why the public love scandal, the politics of newspapers and why Celebrity culture has developed to the level it is at today. Remember though, these are only a few of the Media and Communication courses available out there, and with the media becoming one of the most sought after industries to work in, there will definitely be a course out there to suit you. If you think Journalism may be more what you’re into, check out the Journalism link, which is attached to Richard Muir’s page.
