Administration

Before you run away terrified, Administration isn’t as scary as it sounds! It’s all about paperwork and keeping businesses running! Gillian Campbell doesn’t like admin work at all, but for a lot of people, it is something they are really good at! If you’re good at being organised, then admin could be the career for you! There are loads of jobs in administration, including:

Secretaries
Receptionists
Filing Clerks
Office Managers

Administration is a hugely important area in business, because without smooth administration, the rest of the business will fall down! Those of you with an interest in computing, meeting and organising people and dealing with finance will enjoy working in admin, where no two days will ever be the same! You’ll be involved with tasks such as:

Typing and sending letters, invitations etc
Operating, updating and maintaining databases, spreadsheets (those of you who are good with computers will love this!)
Attending meetings and taking notes
Dealing with mail/ Filing
Dealing with clients/operating Appointments systems
Providing managers etc with Itineraries for business trips (what would they do without you!)

You need to be super organised to work in admin, as you’ll often be expected to do about ten tasks at once, but I’m sure this will be a skoosh for you!
