For those of you who are into technology, this could be right up your street!  Engineering courses of any sort open doors to a huge number of careers such as working with power systems and working abroad is becoming increasingly popular amongst those with engineering degrees.  Yes, YOZILA reader, recovering on the beach from earning all that money is a hard life!

Electronic and Electrical Engineering courses, like the courses offered at the University of Strathclyde allow students to combine with other subjects such as European or Business studies if they so choose.  Not bad, you could manage your own engineering company!  The course at Strathclyde is either 4 years long (BEng) or 5 years long (MEng), and will teach skills such as Engineering, Technology and Science Skills.  You can also choose from options such as Multimedia and Microelectronics in 3rd year – perfect for those of you who love tinkering with things!  The course is also accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, so you’re on your way!!

Sounding good?  The course requirements include Maths, and a science (preferably physics) and technological studies is preferred.  Does this sound like you?  Go for it!  The department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Strathclyde University is world renouned and is rated one of the best departments in the UK by the Good University guide, so they must be doing something right!

If this doesn’t sound like the thing for you, Caledonian University offer courses in Computer Engineering, Fire Risk Engineering and Building Services Engineering, so hopefully there is something out there that’s caught your attention.  These are only 2 institutions offering engineering courses, and there are loads more courses out there, each offering something unique.  If Paul’s career sounds like something you’d love, engineering courses might not be something you’d enjoy (just ask Paul!)  However, times have certainly moved on since Paul was at uni (Sorry Paul!) and many more engineering courses have developed since then, offering different modules and placements to what Paul was offered, so don’t write it off just yet!
